  2. Perdhcp will now exit gracefully if the command line argument for IP version

  4. Prior to this perfdhcp would core when given an IP version of -6 but a valid
  5. IPv4 address for server.

  8. The "delete record" interface of the database based data source
  9. was extended do that the parameter includes reversed name in
  10. addition to the actual name. This may help the underlying
  11. accessor implementation if reversed names are more convenient
  12. for the delete operation. This was the case for the SQLite3
  13. accessor implementation, and it now performs delete operations
  14. much faster. At a higher level, this means IXFR and DDNS Updates
  15. to the sqlite3 database are no longer so slow on large zones as
  16. they were before.

  19. Changed mysql_lease_mgr to set the SQL mode option to STRICT. This
  20. causes mysql it to treat invalid input data as an error. Rather than
  21. "successfully" inserting a too large value by truncating it, the
  22. insert will fail, and the lease manager will throw an exception.
  23. Also, attempts to create a HWAddr (hardware address) object with
  24. too long an array of data now throw an exception.

  32. The separate "static" data source is now deprecated as it can be
  33. served in the more generic "MasterFiles" type of data source.
  34. This means existing configuration may not work after an update.
  35. If "config show data_sources/classes/CH[0]" on bindctl contains a
  36. "static" type of data source, you'll need to update it as follows:
  37. > config set data_sources/classes/CH[0]/type MasterFiles
  38. > config set data_sources/classes/CH[0]/params {"BIND": =>
  39. "<the value of current data_sources/classes/CH[0]/params>"}
  40. > config set data_sources/classes/CH[0]/cache-enable true
  41. > config commit
  42. (Same for CH[1], CH[2], IN[0], etc, if applicable, although it
  43. should be very unlikely in practice. Also note: '=>' above

  477. b10-loadzone was fully overhauled. It now uses C++-based zone
  478. parser and loader library, performing stricter checks, having
  479. more complete support for master file formats, producing more
  480. helpful logs, is more extendable for various types of data
  481. sources, and yet much faster than the old version. In
  482. functionality the new version should be generally backwards
  483. compatible to the old version, but there are some
  484. incompatibilities: name fields of RDATA (in NS, SOA, etc) must
  485. be absolute for now; due to the stricter checks some input that was
  486. (incorrectly) accepted by the old version may now be rejected;
  487. command line options and arguments are not compatible.

  490. The in-memory data source now uses a more complete master
  491. file parser to load textual zone files. As of this change
  492. it supports multi-line RR representation and more complete
  493. support for escaped and quoted strings. It also produces
  494. more helpful log messages when there is an error in the zone
  495. file. It will be enhanced as more specific tasks in the

  497. backward compatible to the previous one, but due to the
  498. tighter checks some input that has been accepted so far

  769. The bind10 process now terminates a component (subprocess) by the
  770. "config remove Boss/components" bindctl command even if the
  771. process crashes immediately before the command is sent to bind10.
  772. Previously this led to an inconsistent state between the
  773. configuration and an internal component list of bind10, and bind10
  774. kept trying to restart the component. A known specific case of
  775. this problem is that b10-ddns could keep failing (due to lack of

  809. Memory footprint of the in-memory data source has been
  810. substantially improved. For example, b10-auth now requires much
  811. less memory than BIND 9 named for loading and serving the same
  812. zone in-memory. This is a transparent change in terms of user
  813. operation; there's no need to update or change the configuration
  814. to enable this feature.
  815. Notes: multiple instances of b10-auth still make separate copies
  816. of the memory image. Also, loading zones in memory still suspends
  817. query processing, so manual reloading or reloading after incoming
  818. transfer may cause service disruption for huge zones.

1677. The DataSourceClientContainer class that dynamically loads
1678. datasource backend libraries no longer provides just a .so file name

1680. that it is no longer an system implementation detail that depends on

1969. b10-xfrout: ACLs for xfrout can now be configured per zone basis.
1970. A per zone ACL is part of a more general zone configuration. A
1971. quick example for configuring an ACL for zone "example.com" that
1972. rejects any transfer request for that zone is as follows:
  1973. > config add Xfrout/zone_config
  1974. > config set Xfrout/zone_config[0]/origin "example.com"
  1975. > config add Xfrout/zone_config[0]/transfer_acl
  1976. > config set Xfrout/zone_config[0]/transfer_acl[0] {"action": "REJECT"}
1977. The previous global ACL (query_acl) was renamed to transfer_acl,
1978. which now works as the default ACL. Note: backward compatibility
1979. is not provided, so an existing configuration using query_acl
1980. needs to be updated by hand.
1981. Note: the per zone configuration framework is a temporary
1982. workaround. It will eventually be redesigned as a system wide
  1983. configuration.

  2788. 138. [func]* jinmei
2789. b10-auth: added a configuration interface to support in memory
2790. data sources. For example, the following command to bindctl
2791. will configure a memory data source containing the "example.com"
2792. zone with the zone file named "example.com.zone":
  2793. > config set Auth/datasources/ [{"type": "memory", "zones": \
  2794. [{"origin": "example.com", "file": "example.com.zone"}]}]
2795. By default, the memory data source is disabled; it must be
2796. configured explicitly. To disable it again, specify a null list
  2797. for Auth/datasources:
  2798. > config set Auth/datasources/ []
2799. Notes: it's currently for class IN only. The zone files are not

2881. src/lib/dns: Added support for TSIG RDATA. At this moment this is
2882. not much of real use, however, because no protocol support was

  2884. 120. [func] jinmei
2885. src/lib/dns: introduced two new classes, TSIGKey and TSIGKeyRing,

2888. The master file parser of the python datasrc module incorrectly
2889. regarded a domain name beginning with a decimal number as a TTL
2890. specification. This confused b10-loadzone and had it reject to
2891. load a zone file that contains such a name.
2892. Note: this fix is incomplete and the loadzone would still be
2893. confused if the owner name is a syntactically indistinguishable
2894. from a TTL specification. This is part of a more general issue
2895. and will be addressed in Trac #413. (Trac #411, svn r3599)
  2896. 118. [func] jinmei
2897. src/lib/dns: changed the interface of
2898. AbstractRRset::getRdataIterator() so that the internal
2899. cursor would point to the first RDATA automatically. This
2900. will be a more intuitive and less error prone behavior.
2901. This is a backward compatible change. (Trac #410, r3595)
  2902. 117. [func] jinmei
2903. src/lib/datasrc: added new zone and zone table classes for the

  3063. 82. [func] jinmei
3064. bin/auth: Added -u option to change the effective process user

  3072. 80. [bug] jelte
3073. bindctl no longer accepts configuration changes for unknown or
3074. non-running modules (for the latter, this is until we have a

  3078. 79. [func] feng, jinmei
3079. Refactored the ASIO link interfaces to move incoming XFR and
3080. NOTIFY processing to the auth server class. Wrapper classes for
3081. ASIO specific concepts were also provided, so that other BIND 10
3082. modules can (eventually) use the interface without including the
3083. ASIO header file directly. On top of these changes, AXFR and
3084. NOTIFY processing was massively improved in terms of message
3085. validation and protocol conformance. Detailed tests were provided
  3086. to confirm the behavior.
3087. Note: Right now, NOTIFY doesn't actually trigger subsequent zone
3088. transfer due to security reasons. (Trac #221, r2565)
  3089. 78. [bug] jinmei
3090. lib/dns: Fixed miscellaneous bugs in the base32 (hex) and hex
3091. (base16) implementation, including incorrect padding handling,
3092. parser failure in decoding with a SunStudio build, missing
3093. validation on the length of encoded hex string. Test cases were
3094. more detailed to identify these bugs and confirm the fix. Also
3095. renamed the incorrect term of "base32" to "base32hex". This
3096. changed the API, but they are not intended to be used outside
3097. libdns++, so we don't consider it a backward incompatible change.
  3098. (Trac #256, r2549)
  3099. 77. [func] zhanglikun

  3102. 76. [bug] jelte
3103. Fixed a bug in the handling of 'remote' config modules (i.e.
3104. modules that peek at the configuration of other modules), where
3105. they answered 'unknown command' to commands for those other
  3106. modules. (Trac #278, r2506)
  3107. 75. [bug] jinmei
3108. Fixed a bug in the sqlite3 data source where temporary strings

  3111. 74. [func]* jinmei
3112. Refactored the cc::Session class by introducing an abstract base
3113. class. Test code can use their own derived mock class so that
3114. tests can be done without establishing a real CC session. This
3115. change also modified some public APIs, mainly in the config
  3116. module. (Trac #275, r2459)
  3117. 73. [bug] jelte
3118. Fixed a bug where in bindctl, locally changed settings were

  3121. 72. [build] jinmei
3122. Added -R when linking python wrapper modules to libpython when
3123. possible. This helps build BIND 10 on platforms that install

  3125. known such platform. (Trac #148, r2427)

  3136. bind10-devel-20100701 released on July 1, 2010
  3137. 69. [func]* jelte
3138. Added python wrappers for libdns++ (isc::dns), and libxfr. This
3139. removes the dependency on Boost.Python. The wrappers don't
3140. completely implement all functionality, but the high-level API
3141. is wrapped, and current modules use it now.
  3142. (Trac #181, svn r2361)
  3143. 68. [func] zhanglikun
3144. Add options -c (--certificate-chain) to bindctl. Override class

3400. unless it's deemed to be impossible or very hard to keep
3401. compatibility to fix the bug.
3402. [build] compilation and installation infrastructure change.
3403. [doc] update to documentation. This shouldn't change run time behavior.
3404. [func] new feature. In some cases this may be a backward incompatible
3405. change, which would require a bump of major version.
3406. [security] security hole fix. This is no different than a general bug

  3408. security patch releases.
3409. *: Backward incompatible or operational change.
