  1. 102. [build] jinmei
  2. Disable threads in ASIO to minimize build time dependency.
  3. (Trac #345, r3100)
  4. 101. [func] jinmei
  5. src/lib/dns: Completed Opcode and Rcode implementation with more
  6. tests and documentation. API is mostly the same but the
  7. validation was a bit tightened. (Trac #351, svn r3056)
  8. 100. [func] Michal Vaner
  9. Python processes: support naming of python processes so
  10. they're not all called python3.
  11. (Trac #322, svn r3052)
  12. 99. [func]* jinmei
  13. Introduced a separate EDNS class to encapsulate EDNS related
  14. information more cleanly. The related APIs are changed a bit,
  15. although it won't affect most of higher level applications.
  16. (Trac #311, svn r3020)
  17. 98. [build] jinmei
  18. The ./configure script now tries to search some common include
  19. paths for boost header files to minimize the need for explicit
  20. configuration with --with-boost-include. (Trac #323, svn r3006)
  21. 97. [func] jinmei
  22. Added a micro benchmark test for query processing of b10-auth.
  23. (Trac #308, svn r2982)
  24. 96. [bug] jinmei
  25. Fixed two small issues with configure: Do not set CXXFLAGS so that
  26. it can be customized; Make sure --disable-static works.
  27. (Trac #325, r2976)
  28. bind10-devel-20100917 released on September 17, 2010
  29. 95. [doc] jreed
  30. Add b10-zonemgr manual page. Update other docs to introduce
  31. this secondary manager. (Trac #341, svn r2951)
  32. 95. [bug] jreed
  33. bin/xfrout and bin/zonemgr: Fixed some stderr output.
  34. (Trac #342, svn r2949)
  35. 94. [bug] jelte
  36. bin/xfrout: Fixed a problem in xfrout where only 2 or 3 RRs
  37. were used per DNS message in the xfrout stream.
  38. (Trac #334, r2931)
  39. 93. [bug] jinmei
  40. lib/datasrc: A DS query could crash the library (and therefore,
  41. e.g. the authoritative server) if some RR of the same apex name
  42. is stored in the hot spot cache. (Trac #307, svn r2923)
  43. 92. [func]* jelte
  44. libdns_python (the python wrappers for libdns++) has been renamed
  45. to pydnspp (Python DNS++). Programs and libraries that used
  46. 'import libdns_python' now need to use 'import pydnspp'.
  47. (Trac #314, r2902)
  48. 91. [func]* jinmei
  49. lib/cc: Use const pointers and const member functions for the API
  50. as much as possible for safer operations. Basically this does not
  51. change the observable behavior, but some of the API were changed
  52. in a backward incompatible manner. This change also involves more
  53. copies, but at this moment the overhead is deemed acceptable.
  54. (Trac #310, r2803)
  55. 90. [build] jinmei
  56. (Darwin/Mac OS X specific) Specify DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH for tests and
  57. experimental run under the source tree. Without this loadable
  58. python modules refer to installation paths, which may confuse the
  59. operation due to version mismatch or even trigger run time errors
  60. due to missing libraries. (Trac #313, r2782)
  61. 89. [build] jinmei
  62. Generate b10-config.db for tests at build time so that the source
  63. tree does not have to be writable. (Trac #315, r2776)
  64. 88. [func] jelte
  65. Blocking reads on the msgq command channel now have a timeout
  66. (defaults to 4 seconds, modifiable as needed by modules).
  67. Because of this, modules will no longer block indefinitely
  68. if they are waiting for a message that is not sent for whatever
  69. reason. (Trac #296, r2761)
  70. 87. [func] zhanglikun
  71. lib/python/isc/notifyout: Add the feature of notify-out, when
  72. zone axfr/ixfr finishing, the server will notify its slaves.
  73. (Trac #289, svn r2737)
  74. 86. [func] jerry
  75. bin/zonemgr: Added zone manager module. The zone manager is one
  76. of the co-operating processes of BIND10, which keeps track of
  77. timers and other information necessary for BIND10 to act as a
  78. slave. (Trac #215, svn r2737)
  79. 85. [build]* jinmei
  80. Build programs using dynamic link by default. A new configure
  81. option --enable-static-link is provided to force static link for
  82. executable programs. Statically linked programs can be run on a
  83. debugger more easily and would be convenient for developers.
  84. (Trac #309, svn r2723)
  85. bind10-devel-20100812 released on August 12, 2010
  86. 84. [bug] jinmei, jerry
  87. This is a quick fix patch for the issue: AXFR fails half the
  88. time because of connection problems. xfrout client will make
  89. a new connection every time. (Trac #299, svn r2697)
  90. 83. [build]* jreed
  91. The configure --with-boost-lib option is removed. It was not
  92. used since the build included ASIO. (svn r2684)
  93. 82. [func] jinmei
  94. bin/auth: Added -u option to change the effective process user
  95. of the authoritative server after invocation. The same option to
  96. the boss process will be propagated to b10-auth, too.
  97. (Trac #268, svn r2675)
  98. 81. [func] jinmei
  99. Added a C++ framework for micro benchmark tests. A supplemental
  100. library functions to build query data for the tests were also
  101. provided. (Trac #241, svn r2664)
  102. 80. [bug] jelte
  103. bindctl no longer accepts configuration changes for unknown or
  104. non-running modules (for the latter, this is until we have a
  105. way to verify those options, at which point it'll be allowed
  106. again).
  107. (Trac #99, r2657)
  108. 79. [func] feng, jinmei
  109. Refactored the ASIO link interfaces to move incoming XFR and
  110. NOTIFY processing to the auth server class. Wrapper classes for
  111. ASIO specific concepts were also provided, so that other BIND 10
  112. modules can (eventually) use the interface without including the
  113. ASIO header file directly. On top of these changes, AXFR and
  114. NOTIFY processing was massively improved in terms of message
  115. validation and protocol conformance. Detailed tests were provided
  116. to confirm the behavior.
  117. Note: Right now, NOTIFY doesn't actually trigger subsequent zone
  118. transfer due to security reasons. (Trac #221, r2565)
  119. 78. [bug] jinmei
  120. lib/dns: Fixed miscellaneous bugs in the base32 (hex) and hex
  121. (base16) implementation, including incorrect padding handling,
  122. parser failure in decoding with a SunStudio build, missing
  123. validation on the length of encoded hex string. Test cases were
  124. more detailed to identify these bugs and confirm the fix. Also
  125. renamed the incorrect term of "base32" to "base32hex". This
  126. changed the API, but they are not intended to be used outside
  127. libdns++, so we don't consider it a backward incompatible change.
  128. (Trac #256, r2549)
  129. 77. [func] zhanglikun
  130. Make error message be more friendly when running cmdctl and it's
  131. already running(listening on same port)(Trac #277, r2540)
  132. 76. [bug] jelte
  133. Fixed a bug in the handling of 'remote' config modules (i.e.
  134. modules that peek at the configuration of other modules), where
  135. they answered 'unknown command' to commands for those other
  136. modules. (Trac #278, r2506)
  137. 75. [bug] jinmei
  138. Fixed a bug in the sqlite3 data source where temporary strings
  139. could be referenced after destruction. It caused various lookup
  140. failures with SunStudio build. (Trac #288, r2494)
  141. 74. [func]* jinmei
  142. Refactored the cc::Session class by introducing an abstract base
  143. class. Test code can use their own derived mock class so that
  144. tests can be done without establishing a real CC session. This
  145. change also modified some public APIs, mainly in the config
  146. module. (Trac #275, r2459)
  147. 73. [bug] jelte
  148. Fixed a bug where in bindctl, locally changed settings were
  149. reset when the list of running modules is updated. (Trac #285,
  150. r2452)
  151. 72. [build] jinmei
  152. Added -R when linking python wrapper modules to libpython when
  153. possible. This helps build BIND 10 on platforms that install
  154. libpython whose path is unknown to run-time loader. NetBSD is a
  155. known such platform. (Trac #148, r2427)
  156. 71. [func] each
  157. Add "-a" (address) option to bind10 to specify an address for
  158. the auth server to listen on.
  159. 70. [func] each
  160. Added a hot-spot cache to libdatasrc to speed up access to
  161. repeatedly-queried data and reduce the number of queries to
  162. the underlying database; this should substantially improve
  163. performance. Also added a "-n" ("no cache") option to
  164. bind10 and b10-auth to disable the cache if needed.
  165. (Trac #192, svn r2383)
  166. bind10-devel-20100701 released on July 1, 2010
  167. 69. [func]* jelte
  168. Added python wrappers for libdns++ (isc::dns), and libxfr. This
  169. removes the dependency on Boost.Python. The wrappers don't
  170. completely implement all functionality, but the high-level API
  171. is wrapped, and current modules use it now.
  172. (Trac #181, svn r2361)
  173. 68. [func] zhanglikun
  174. Add options -c(--certificate-chain) to bindctl. Override class
  175. HTTPSConnection to support server certificate validation.
  176. Add support to cmdctl.spec file, now there are three configurable
  177. items for cmdctl: 'key_file', 'cert_file' and 'accounts_file',
  178. all of them can be changed in runtime.
  179. (Trac #127, svn r2357)
  180. 67. [func] zhanglikun
  181. Make bindctl's command parser only do minimal check.
  182. Parameter value can be a sequence of non-space characters,
  183. or a string surrounded by quotation marks (these marks can
  184. be a part of the value string in escaped form). Make error
  185. message be more friendly. (If there is some error in
  186. parameter's value, the parameter name will be provided).
  187. Refactor function login_to_cmdctl() in class BindCmdInterpreter:
  188. avoid using Exception to catch all exceptions.
  189. (Trac #220, svn r2356)
  190. 66. [bug] each
  191. Check for duplicate RRsets before inserting data into a message
  192. section; this, among other things, will prevent multiple copies
  193. of the same CNAME from showing up when there's a loop. (Trac #69,
  194. svn r2350)
  195. 65. [func] shentingting
  196. Various loadzone improvements: allow optional comment for
  197. $TTL, allow optional origin and comment for $INCLUDE, allow
  198. optional comment for $ORIGIN, support BIND9 extension of
  199. time units for TTLs, and fix bug to not use class as part
  200. of label name when records don't have a label but do have
  201. a class. Added verbose options to exactly what is happening
  202. with loadzone. Added loadzone test suite of different file
  203. formats to load.
  204. (Trac #197, #199, #244, #161, #198, #174, #175, svn r2340)
  205. 64. [func] jerry
  206. Added python logging framework. It is for testing and
  207. experimenting with logging ideas. Currently, it supports
  208. three channels (file, syslog and stderr) and five levels
  209. (debug, info, warning, error and critical).
  210. (Trac #176, svn r2338)
  211. 63. [func] shane
  212. Added initial support for setuid(), using the "-u" flag. This will
  213. be replaced in the future, but for now provides a reasonable
  214. starting point.
  215. (Trac #180, svn r2330)
  216. 62. [func] jelte
  217. bin/xfrin: Use the database_file as configured in Auth to transfers
  218. bin/xfrout: Use the database_file as configured in Auth to transfers
  219. 61. [bug] jelte
  220. bin/auth: Enable b10-auth to be launched in source tree
  221. (i.e. use a zone database file relative to that)
  222. 60. [build] jinmei
  223. Supported SunStudio C++ compiler. Note: gtest still doesn't work.
  224. (Trac #251, svn r2310)
  225. 59. [bug] jinmei
  226. lib/datasrc,bin/auth: The authoritative server could return a
  227. SERVFAIL with a partial answer if it finds a data source broken
  228. while looking for an answer. This can happen, for example, if a
  229. zone that doesn't have an NS RR is configured and loaded as a
  230. sqlite3 data source. (Trac #249, r2286)
  231. 58. [bug] jinmei
  232. Worked around an interaction issue between ASIO and standard C++
  233. library headers. Without this ASIO didn't work: sometimes the
  234. application crashes, sometimes it blocked in the ASIO module.
  235. (Trac #248, svn r2187, r2190)
  236. 57. [func] jinmei
  237. lib/datasrc: used a simpler version of Name::split (change 31) for
  238. better readability. No behavior change. (Trac #200, svn r2159)
  239. 56. [func]* jinmei
  240. lib/dns: renamed the library name to libdns++ to avoid confusion
  241. with the same name of library of BIND 9.
  242. (Trac #190, svn r2153)
  243. 55. [bug] shane
  244. bin/xfrout: xfrout exception on Ctrl-C now no longer generates
  245. exception for 'Interrupted system call'
  246. (Track #136, svn r2147)
  247. 54. [bug] zhanglikun
  248. bin/xfrout: Enable b10-xfrout can be launched in source
  249. code tree.
  250. (Trac #224, svn r2103)
  251. 53. [bug] zhanglikun
  252. bin/bindctl: Generate a unique session ID by using
  253. socket.gethostname() instead of socket.gethostbyname(),
  254. since the latter one could make bindctl stall if its own
  255. host name can't be resolved.
  256. (Trac #228, svn r2096)
  257. 52. [func] zhanglikun
  258. bin/xfrout: When xfrout is launched, check whether the
  259. socket file is being used by one running xfrout process,
  260. if it is, exit from python. If the file isn't a socket file
  261. or nobody is listening, it will be removed. If it can't
  262. be removed, exit from python.
  263. (Trac #151, svn r2091)
  264. bind10-devel-20100602 released on June 2, 2010
  265. 51. [build] jelte
  266. lib/python: Add bind10_config.py module for paths and
  267. possibly other configure-time variables. Allow some components
  268. to find spec files in build tree when ran from source.
  269. (Trac #223)
  270. 50. [bug] zhanglikun
  271. bin/xfrin: a regression in xfrin: it can't communicate with
  272. a remote server. (Trac #218, svn r2038)
  273. 49. [func]* jelte
  274. Use unix domain sockets for msgq. For b10-msgq, the command
  275. line options --msgq-port and -m were removed. For bind10,
  276. the -msgq-port option was removed, and the -m command line
  277. option was changed to be a filename (instead of port number).
  278. (Trac #183, svn r2009)
  279. 48. [func] jelte
  280. bin/auth: Use asio's io_service for the msgq handling.
  281. (svn r2007)
  282. 47. [func] zhanglikun
  283. bin/cmdctl: Add value/type check for commands sent to
  284. cmdctl. (Trac #201, svn r1959)
  285. 46. [func] zhanglikun
  286. lib/cc: Fix real type data encoding/decoding. (Trac #193,
  287. svn r1959)
  288. 45. [func] zhanglikun
  289. bin/bind10: Pass verbose option to more modules. (Trac
  290. #205, svn r1957)
  291. 44. [build] jreed
  292. Install headers for libdns and libexception. (Trac #68,
  293. svn r1941)
  294. 43. [func] jelte
  295. lib/cc: Message queuing on cc channel. (Trac #58, svn r1870)
  296. 42. [func] jelte
  297. lib/python/isc/config: Make temporary file with python
  298. tempfile module instead of manual with fixed name. (Trac
  299. #184, svn r1859)
  300. 41. [func] jelte
  301. Module descriptions in spec files. (Trac #90, svn r1856)
  302. 40. [build] jreed
  303. Report detected features and configure settings at end of
  304. configure output. (svn r1836)
  305. 39. [func]* each
  306. Renamed libauth to libdatasrc.
  307. 38. [bug] zhanglikun
  308. Send command 'shutdown' to Xfrin and Xfrout when boss receive SIGINT.
  309. Remove unused socket file when Xfrout process exits. Make sure Xfrout
  310. exit by itself when it receives SIGINT, instead of being killed by the
  311. signal SIGTERM or SIGKILL sent from boss.
  312. (Trac #135, #151, #134, svn r1797)
  313. 37. [build] jinmei
  314. Check for the availability of python-config. (Trac #159,
  315. svn r1794)
  316. 36. [func] shane
  317. bin/bind10: Miscellaneous code cleanups and improvements.
  318. (Trac #40, svn r2012)

  424. LEGEND
  425. [bug] general bug fix. This is generally a backward compatible change,
  426. unless it's deemed to be impossible or very hard to keep
  427. compatibility to fix the bug.
  428. [build] compilation and installation infrastructure change.
  429. [doc] update to documentation. This shouldn't change run time behavior.
  430. [func] new feature. In some cases this may be a backward incompatible
  431. change, which would require a bump of major version.
  432. [security] security hole fix. This is no different than a general bug fix
  433. except that it will be handled as confidential and will cause
  434. security patch releases.
  435. *: Backward incompatible or operational change.
