  5. libdhcp: DHCP packet library was implemented. Currently it handles
  6. packet reception, option parsing, option generation and output
  7. packet building. Generic and specialized classes for several
  8. DHCPv6 options (IA_NA, IAADDR, address-list) are available. A
  9. simple code was added that leverages libdhcp. It is a skeleton
  10. DHCPv6 server. It receives incoming SOLICIT and REQUEST messages
  11. and responds with proper ADVERTISE and REPLY. Note that since
  12. LeaseManager is not implemented, server assigns the same
  13. hardcoded lease for every client. This change removes existing
  14. DHCPv6 echo server as it was only a proof of concept code.

  17. Do not install the libfake_session, libtestutils, or libbench
  18. libraries. They are used by tests within the source tree.
  19. Convert all test-related makefiles to build test code at
  20. regular make time to better work with test-driven development.
  21. This reverts some of #1901. (The tests are ran using "make
  22. check".)

  32. Do not install the unittest libraries. At this time, they
  33. are not useful without source tree (and they may or may
  34. not have googletest support). Also, convert several makefiles
  35. to build tests at "check" time and not build time.

  38. __init__.py for isc.dns was installed in the wrong directory,
  39. which would now make xfrin fail to start. It was also bad
  40. in that it replaced any existing __init__.py in th public
  41. site-packages directory. After applying this fix You may want to
  42. check if the wrong init file is in the wrong place, in which
  43. case it should be removed.

  50. b10-dhcp6: Implemented DHCPv6 echo server. It joins DHCPv6
  51. multicast groups and listens to incoming DHCPv6 client messages.
  52. Received messages are then echoed back to clients. This
  53. functionality is limited, but it can be used to test out client
  54. resiliency to unexpected messages. Note that network interface
  55. detection routines are not implemented yet, so interface name
  56. and its address must be specified in interfaces.txt.

  76. b10-xfrout: ACLs for xfrout can now be configured per zone basis.
  77. A per zone ACL is part of a more general zone configuration. A
  78. quick example for configuring an ACL for zone "example.com" that
  79. rejects any transfer request for that zone is as follows:
  80. > config add Xfrout/zone_config

  885. ... "auth.queries.tcp": 1, "auth.queries.udp": 1 ...
  886. Using the "Auth sendstats" command you can make b10-auth send the

  895. 138. [func]* jinmei
  896. b10-auth: added a configuration interface to support in memory
  897. data sources. For example, the following command to bindctl
  898. will configure a memory data source containing the "example.com"
  899. zone with the zone file named "example.com.zone":
  900. > config set Auth/datasources/ [{"type": "memory", "zones": \
  901. [{"origin": "example.com", "file": "example.com.zone"}]}]
  902. By default, the memory data source is disabled; it must be
  903. configured explicitly. To disable it again, specify a null list
  904. for Auth/datasources:
  905. > config set Auth/datasources/ []
  906. Notes: it's currently for class IN only. The zone files are not

1126. lib/cc: Use const pointers and const member functions for the API
1127. as much as possible for safer operations. Basically this does not

  1132. 90. [build] jinmei
1133. (Darwin/Mac OS X specific) Specify DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH for tests and

  1150. (Trac #289, svn r2737)
  1151. 86. [func] jerry
1152. bin/zonemgr: Added zone manager module. The zone manager is one
1153. of the co-operating processes of BIND10, which keeps track of

  1155. slave. (Trac #215, svn r2737)
  1156. 85. [build]* jinmei
1157. Build programs using dynamic link by default. A new configure
1158. option --enable-static-link is provided to force static link for

1160. debugger more easily and would be convenient for developers.
  1161. (Trac #309, svn r2723)
  1162. bind10-devel-20100812 released on August 12, 2010
  1163. 84. [bug] jinmei, jerry
1164. This is a quick fix patch for the issue: AXFR fails half the
1165. time because of connection problems. xfrout client will make
1166. a new connection every time. (Trac #299, svn r2697)
  1167. 83. [build]* jreed
1168. The configure --with-boost-lib option is removed. It was not
1169. used since the build included ASIO. (svn r2684)
  1170. 82. [func] jinmei
1171. bin/auth: Added -u option to change the effective process user
1172. of the authoritative server after invocation. The same option to
1173. the boss process will be propagated to b10-auth, too.
  1174. (Trac #268, svn r2675)
  1175. 81. [func] jinmei
1176. Added a C++ framework for micro benchmark tests. A supplemental
1177. library functions to build query data for the tests were also
  1178. provided. (Trac #241, svn r2664)
  1179. 80. [bug] jelte
1180. bindctl no longer accepts configuration changes for unknown or
1181. non-running modules (for the latter, this is until we have a
1182. way to verify those options, at which point it'll be allowed
  1183. again).
  1184. (Trac #99, r2657)
  1185. 79. [func] feng, jinmei
1186. Refactored the ASIO link interfaces to move incoming XFR and
1187. NOTIFY processing to the auth server class. Wrapper classes for
1188. ASIO specific concepts were also provided, so that other BIND 10
1189. modules can (eventually) use the interface without including the
1190. ASIO header file directly. On top of these changes, AXFR and
1191. NOTIFY processing was massively improved in terms of message
1192. validation and protocol conformance. Detailed tests were provided
  1193. to confirm the behavior.
1194. Note: Right now, NOTIFY doesn't actually trigger subsequent zone
1195. transfer due to security reasons. (Trac #221, r2565)
  1196. 78. [bug] jinmei
1197. lib/dns: Fixed miscellaneous bugs in the base32 (hex) and hex
1198. (base16) implementation, including incorrect padding handling,
1199. parser failure in decoding with a SunStudio build, missing
1200. validation on the length of encoded hex string. Test cases were
1201. more detailed to identify these bugs and confirm the fix. Also
1202. renamed the incorrect term of "base32" to "base32hex". This
1203. changed the API, but they are not intended to be used outside
1204. libdns++, so we don't consider it a backward incompatible change.
  1205. (Trac #256, r2549)
  1206. 77. [func] zhanglikun
1207. Make error message be more friendly when running cmdctl and it's
  1208. already running (listening on same port)(Trac #277, r2540)
  1209. 76. [bug] jelte
1210. Fixed a bug in the handling of 'remote' config modules (i.e.
1211. modules that peek at the configuration of other modules), where
1212. they answered 'unknown command' to commands for those other
  1213. modules. (Trac #278, r2506)
  1214. 75. [bug] jinmei
1215. Fixed a bug in the sqlite3 data source where temporary strings
1216. could be referenced after destruction. It caused various lookup
1217. failures with SunStudio build. (Trac #288, r2494)
  1218. 74. [func]* jinmei
1219. Refactored the cc::Session class by introducing an abstract base
1220. class. Test code can use their own derived mock class so that
1221. tests can be done without establishing a real CC session. This
1222. change also modified some public APIs, mainly in the config
  1223. module. (Trac #275, r2459)
  1224. 73. [bug] jelte
1225. Fixed a bug where in bindctl, locally changed settings were
1226. reset when the list of running modules is updated. (Trac #285,
  1227. r2452)
  1228. 72. [build] jinmei
1229. Added -R when linking python wrapper modules to libpython when
1230. possible. This helps build BIND 10 on platforms that install
1231. libpython whose path is unknown to run-time loader. NetBSD is a
  1232. known such platform. (Trac #148, r2427)
  1233. 71. [func] each

  1236. 70. [func] each
1237. Added a hot-spot cache to libdatasrc to speed up access to
1238. repeatedly-queried data and reduce the number of queries to
1239. the underlying database; this should substantially improve
1240. performance. Also added a "-n" ("no cache") option to
1241. bind10 and b10-auth to disable the cache if needed.
  1242. (Trac #192, svn r2383)
  1243. bind10-devel-20100701 released on July 1, 2010
  1244. 69. [func]* jelte
1245. Added python wrappers for libdns++ (isc::dns), and libxfr. This
1246. removes the dependency on Boost.Python. The wrappers don't
1247. completely implement all functionality, but the high-level API
1248. is wrapped, and current modules use it now.
  1249. (Trac #181, svn r2361)
  1250. 68. [func] zhanglikun
1251. Add options -c (--certificate-chain) to bindctl. Override class
1252. HTTPSConnection to support server certificate validation.
1253. Add support to cmdctl.spec file, now there are three configurable
  1254. items for cmdctl: 'key_file', 'cert_file' and 'accounts_file',
1255. all of them can be changed in runtime.
  1256. (Trac #127, svn r2357)
  1257. 67. [func] zhanglikun
1258. Make bindctl's command parser only do minimal check.
1259. Parameter value can be a sequence of non-space characters,
1260. or a string surrounded by quotation marks (these marks can
1261. be a part of the value string in escaped form). Make error
1262. message be more friendly. (If there is some error in
1263. parameter's value, the parameter name will be provided).
1264. Refactor function login_to_cmdctl() in class BindCmdInterpreter:

  1272. 65. [func] shentingting
1273. Various loadzone improvements: allow optional comment for
1274. $TTL, allow optional origin and comment for $INCLUDE, allow
1275. optional comment for $ORIGIN, support BIND9 extension of
1276. time units for TTLs, and fix bug to not use class as part
1277. of label name when records don't have a label but do have
1278. a class. Added verbose options to exactly what is happening
1279. with loadzone. Added loadzone test suite of different file
  1280. formats to load.
  1281. (Trac #197, #199, #244, #161, #198, #174, #175, svn r2340)
  1282. 64. [func] jerry
1283. Added python logging framework. It is for testing and

1507. unless it's deemed to be impossible or very hard to keep
1508. compatibility to fix the bug.
1509. [build] compilation and installation infrastructure change.
1510. [doc] update to documentation. This shouldn't change run time behavior.
1511. [func] new feature. In some cases this may be a backward incompatible
1512. change, which would require a bump of major version.
1513. [security] security hole fix. This is no different than a general bug

  1515. security patch releases.
1516. *: Backward incompatible or operational change.
