  1. 104. [bug] jerry
  2. bin/zonemgr: zonemgr should be attempting to refresh expired zones.
  3. (Trac #336, r3139)
  4. 103. [bug] jerry
  5. lib/python/isc/log: Fixed an issue with python logging,
  6. python log shouldn't die with OSError.(Trac #267, r3137)
  7. 102. [build] jinmei
  8. Disable threads in ASIO to minimize build time dependency.
  9. (Trac #345, r3100)
  10. 101. [func] jinmei
  11. src/lib/dns: Completed Opcode and Rcode implementation with more
  12. tests and documentation. API is mostly the same but the
  13. validation was a bit tightened. (Trac #351, svn r3056)
  14. 100. [func] Michal Vaner
  15. Python processes: support naming of python processes so
  16. they're not all called python3.
  17. (Trac #322, svn r3052)
  18. 99. [func]* jinmei
  19. Introduced a separate EDNS class to encapsulate EDNS related
  20. information more cleanly. The related APIs are changed a bit,
  21. although it won't affect most of higher level applications.
  22. (Trac #311, svn r3020)
  23. 98. [build] jinmei
  24. The ./configure script now tries to search some common include
  25. paths for boost header files to minimize the need for explicit
  26. configuration with --with-boost-include. (Trac #323, svn r3006)
  27. 97. [func] jinmei
  28. Added a micro benchmark test for query processing of b10-auth.
  29. (Trac #308, svn r2982)
  30. 96. [bug] jinmei
  31. Fixed two small issues with configure: Do not set CXXFLAGS so that
  32. it can be customized; Make sure --disable-static works.
  33. (Trac #325, r2976)
  34. bind10-devel-20100917 released on September 17, 2010
  35. 95. [doc] jreed
  36. Add b10-zonemgr manual page. Update other docs to introduce
  37. this secondary manager. (Trac #341, svn r2951)
  38. 95. [bug] jreed
  39. bin/xfrout and bin/zonemgr: Fixed some stderr output.
  40. (Trac #342, svn r2949)
  41. 94. [bug] jelte
  42. bin/xfrout: Fixed a problem in xfrout where only 2 or 3 RRs
  43. were used per DNS message in the xfrout stream.
  44. (Trac #334, r2931)
  45. 93. [bug] jinmei
  46. lib/datasrc: A DS query could crash the library (and therefore,
  47. e.g. the authoritative server) if some RR of the same apex name
  48. is stored in the hot spot cache. (Trac #307, svn r2923)
  49. 92. [func]* jelte
  50. libdns_python (the python wrappers for libdns++) has been renamed
  51. to pydnspp (Python DNS++). Programs and libraries that used
  52. 'import libdns_python' now need to use 'import pydnspp'.
  53. (Trac #314, r2902)
  54. 91. [func]* jinmei
  55. lib/cc: Use const pointers and const member functions for the API
  56. as much as possible for safer operations. Basically this does not
  57. change the observable behavior, but some of the API were changed
  58. in a backward incompatible manner. This change also involves more
  59. copies, but at this moment the overhead is deemed acceptable.
  60. (Trac #310, r2803)
  61. 90. [build] jinmei
  62. (Darwin/Mac OS X specific) Specify DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH for tests and
  63. experimental run under the source tree. Without this loadable
  64. python modules refer to installation paths, which may confuse the
  65. operation due to version mismatch or even trigger run time errors
  66. due to missing libraries. (Trac #313, r2782)
  67. 89. [build] jinmei
  68. Generate b10-config.db for tests at build time so that the source
  69. tree does not have to be writable. (Trac #315, r2776)
  70. 88. [func] jelte
  71. Blocking reads on the msgq command channel now have a timeout
  72. (defaults to 4 seconds, modifiable as needed by modules).
  73. Because of this, modules will no longer block indefinitely
  74. if they are waiting for a message that is not sent for whatever
  75. reason. (Trac #296, r2761)
  76. 87. [func] zhanglikun
  77. lib/python/isc/notifyout: Add the feature of notify-out, when
  78. zone axfr/ixfr finishing, the server will notify its slaves.
  79. (Trac #289, svn r2737)
  80. 86. [func] jerry
  81. bin/zonemgr: Added zone manager module. The zone manager is one
  82. of the co-operating processes of BIND10, which keeps track of
  83. timers and other information necessary for BIND10 to act as a
  84. slave. (Trac #215, svn r2737)
  85. 85. [build]* jinmei
  86. Build programs using dynamic link by default. A new configure
  87. option --enable-static-link is provided to force static link for
  88. executable programs. Statically linked programs can be run on a
  89. debugger more easily and would be convenient for developers.
  90. (Trac #309, svn r2723)
  91. bind10-devel-20100812 released on August 12, 2010
  92. 84. [bug] jinmei, jerry
  93. This is a quick fix patch for the issue: AXFR fails half the
  94. time because of connection problems. xfrout client will make
  95. a new connection every time. (Trac #299, svn r2697)
  96. 83. [build]* jreed
  97. The configure --with-boost-lib option is removed. It was not
  98. used since the build included ASIO. (svn r2684)
  99. 82. [func] jinmei
  100. bin/auth: Added -u option to change the effective process user
  101. of the authoritative server after invocation. The same option to
  102. the boss process will be propagated to b10-auth, too.
  103. (Trac #268, svn r2675)
  104. 81. [func] jinmei
  105. Added a C++ framework for micro benchmark tests. A supplemental
  106. library functions to build query data for the tests were also
  107. provided. (Trac #241, svn r2664)
  108. 80. [bug] jelte
  109. bindctl no longer accepts configuration changes for unknown or
  110. non-running modules (for the latter, this is until we have a
  111. way to verify those options, at which point it'll be allowed
  112. again).
  113. (Trac #99, r2657)
  114. 79. [func] feng, jinmei
  115. Refactored the ASIO link interfaces to move incoming XFR and
  116. NOTIFY processing to the auth server class. Wrapper classes for
  117. ASIO specific concepts were also provided, so that other BIND 10
  118. modules can (eventually) use the interface without including the
  119. ASIO header file directly. On top of these changes, AXFR and
  120. NOTIFY processing was massively improved in terms of message
  121. validation and protocol conformance. Detailed tests were provided
  122. to confirm the behavior.
  123. Note: Right now, NOTIFY doesn't actually trigger subsequent zone
  124. transfer due to security reasons. (Trac #221, r2565)
  125. 78. [bug] jinmei
  126. lib/dns: Fixed miscellaneous bugs in the base32 (hex) and hex
  127. (base16) implementation, including incorrect padding handling,
  128. parser failure in decoding with a SunStudio build, missing
  129. validation on the length of encoded hex string. Test cases were
  130. more detailed to identify these bugs and confirm the fix. Also
  131. renamed the incorrect term of "base32" to "base32hex". This
  132. changed the API, but they are not intended to be used outside
  133. libdns++, so we don't consider it a backward incompatible change.
  134. (Trac #256, r2549)
  135. 77. [func] zhanglikun
  136. Make error message be more friendly when running cmdctl and it's
  137. already running(listening on same port)(Trac #277, r2540)
  138. 76. [bug] jelte
  139. Fixed a bug in the handling of 'remote' config modules (i.e.
  140. modules that peek at the configuration of other modules), where
  141. they answered 'unknown command' to commands for those other
  142. modules. (Trac #278, r2506)
  143. 75. [bug] jinmei
  144. Fixed a bug in the sqlite3 data source where temporary strings
  145. could be referenced after destruction. It caused various lookup
  146. failures with SunStudio build. (Trac #288, r2494)
  147. 74. [func]* jinmei
  148. Refactored the cc::Session class by introducing an abstract base
  149. class. Test code can use their own derived mock class so that
  150. tests can be done without establishing a real CC session. This
  151. change also modified some public APIs, mainly in the config
  152. module. (Trac #275, r2459)
  153. 73. [bug] jelte
  154. Fixed a bug where in bindctl, locally changed settings were
  155. reset when the list of running modules is updated. (Trac #285,
  156. r2452)
  157. 72. [build] jinmei
  158. Added -R when linking python wrapper modules to libpython when
  159. possible. This helps build BIND 10 on platforms that install
  160. libpython whose path is unknown to run-time loader. NetBSD is a
  161. known such platform. (Trac #148, r2427)
  162. 71. [func] each
  163. Add "-a" (address) option to bind10 to specify an address for
  164. the auth server to listen on.
  165. 70. [func] each
  166. Added a hot-spot cache to libdatasrc to speed up access to
  167. repeatedly-queried data and reduce the number of queries to
  168. the underlying database; this should substantially improve
  169. performance. Also added a "-n" ("no cache") option to
  170. bind10 and b10-auth to disable the cache if needed.
  171. (Trac #192, svn r2383)
  172. bind10-devel-20100701 released on July 1, 2010
  173. 69. [func]* jelte
  174. Added python wrappers for libdns++ (isc::dns), and libxfr. This
  175. removes the dependency on Boost.Python. The wrappers don't
  176. completely implement all functionality, but the high-level API
  177. is wrapped, and current modules use it now.
  178. (Trac #181, svn r2361)
  179. 68. [func] zhanglikun
  180. Add options -c(--certificate-chain) to bindctl. Override class
  181. HTTPSConnection to support server certificate validation.
  182. Add support to cmdctl.spec file, now there are three configurable
  183. items for cmdctl: 'key_file', 'cert_file' and 'accounts_file',
  184. all of them can be changed in runtime.
  185. (Trac #127, svn r2357)
  186. 67. [func] zhanglikun
  187. Make bindctl's command parser only do minimal check.
  188. Parameter value can be a sequence of non-space characters,
  189. or a string surrounded by quotation marks (these marks can
  190. be a part of the value string in escaped form). Make error
  191. message be more friendly. (If there is some error in
  192. parameter's value, the parameter name will be provided).
  193. Refactor function login_to_cmdctl() in class BindCmdInterpreter:
  194. avoid using Exception to catch all exceptions.
  195. (Trac #220, svn r2356)
  196. 66. [bug] each
  197. Check for duplicate RRsets before inserting data into a message
  198. section; this, among other things, will prevent multiple copies
  199. of the same CNAME from showing up when there's a loop. (Trac #69,
  200. svn r2350)
  201. 65. [func] shentingting
  202. Various loadzone improvements: allow optional comment for
  203. $TTL, allow optional origin and comment for $INCLUDE, allow
  204. optional comment for $ORIGIN, support BIND9 extension of
  205. time units for TTLs, and fix bug to not use class as part
  206. of label name when records don't have a label but do have
  207. a class. Added verbose options to exactly what is happening
  208. with loadzone. Added loadzone test suite of different file
  209. formats to load.
  210. (Trac #197, #199, #244, #161, #198, #174, #175, svn r2340)
  211. 64. [func] jerry
  212. Added python logging framework. It is for testing and
  213. experimenting with logging ideas. Currently, it supports
  214. three channels (file, syslog and stderr) and five levels
  215. (debug, info, warning, error and critical).
  216. (Trac #176, svn r2338)
  217. 63. [func] shane
  218. Added initial support for setuid(), using the "-u" flag. This will
  219. be replaced in the future, but for now provides a reasonable
  220. starting point.
  221. (Trac #180, svn r2330)
  222. 62. [func] jelte
  223. bin/xfrin: Use the database_file as configured in Auth to transfers
  224. bin/xfrout: Use the database_file as configured in Auth to transfers
  225. 61. [bug] jelte
  226. bin/auth: Enable b10-auth to be launched in source tree
  227. (i.e. use a zone database file relative to that)
  228. 60. [build] jinmei
  229. Supported SunStudio C++ compiler. Note: gtest still doesn't work.
  230. (Trac #251, svn r2310)
  231. 59. [bug] jinmei
  232. lib/datasrc,bin/auth: The authoritative server could return a
  233. SERVFAIL with a partial answer if it finds a data source broken
  234. while looking for an answer. This can happen, for example, if a
  235. zone that doesn't have an NS RR is configured and loaded as a
  236. sqlite3 data source. (Trac #249, r2286)
  237. 58. [bug] jinmei
  238. Worked around an interaction issue between ASIO and standard C++
  239. library headers. Without this ASIO didn't work: sometimes the
  240. application crashes, sometimes it blocked in the ASIO module.
  241. (Trac #248, svn r2187, r2190)
  242. 57. [func] jinmei
  243. lib/datasrc: used a simpler version of Name::split (change 31) for
  244. better readability. No behavior change. (Trac #200, svn r2159)
  245. 56. [func]* jinmei
  246. lib/dns: renamed the library name to libdns++ to avoid confusion
  247. with the same name of library of BIND 9.
  248. (Trac #190, svn r2153)
  249. 55. [bug] shane
  250. bin/xfrout: xfrout exception on Ctrl-C now no longer generates
  251. exception for 'Interrupted system call'
  252. (Track #136, svn r2147)
  253. 54. [bug] zhanglikun
  254. bin/xfrout: Enable b10-xfrout can be launched in source
  255. code tree.
  256. (Trac #224, svn r2103)
  257. 53. [bug] zhanglikun
  258. bin/bindctl: Generate a unique session ID by using
  259. socket.gethostname() instead of socket.gethostbyname(),
  260. since the latter one could make bindctl stall if its own
  261. host name can't be resolved.
  262. (Trac #228, svn r2096)
  263. 52. [func] zhanglikun
  264. bin/xfrout: When xfrout is launched, check whether the
  265. socket file is being used by one running xfrout process,
  266. if it is, exit from python. If the file isn't a socket file
  267. or nobody is listening, it will be removed. If it can't
  268. be removed, exit from python.
  269. (Trac #151, svn r2091)
  270. bind10-devel-20100602 released on June 2, 2010
  271. 51. [build] jelte
  272. lib/python: Add bind10_config.py module for paths and
  273. possibly other configure-time variables. Allow some components
  274. to find spec files in build tree when ran from source.
  275. (Trac #223)
  276. 50. [bug] zhanglikun
  277. bin/xfrin: a regression in xfrin: it can't communicate with
  278. a remote server. (Trac #218, svn r2038)
  279. 49. [func]* jelte
  280. Use unix domain sockets for msgq. For b10-msgq, the command
  281. line options --msgq-port and -m were removed. For bind10,
  282. the -msgq-port option was removed, and the -m command line
  283. option was changed to be a filename (instead of port number).
  284. (Trac #183, svn r2009)
  285. 48. [func] jelte
  286. bin/auth: Use asio's io_service for the msgq handling.
  287. (svn r2007)
  288. 47. [func] zhanglikun
  289. bin/cmdctl: Add value/type check for commands sent to
  290. cmdctl. (Trac #201, svn r1959)
  291. 46. [func] zhanglikun
  292. lib/cc: Fix real type data encoding/decoding. (Trac #193,
  293. svn r1959)
  294. 45. [func] zhanglikun
  295. bin/bind10: Pass verbose option to more modules. (Trac
  296. #205, svn r1957)
  297. 44. [build] jreed
  298. Install headers for libdns and libexception. (Trac #68,
  299. svn r1941)
  300. 43. [func] jelte
  301. lib/cc: Message queuing on cc channel. (Trac #58, svn r1870)
  302. 42. [func] jelte
  303. lib/python/isc/config: Make temporary file with python
  304. tempfile module instead of manual with fixed name. (Trac
  305. #184, svn r1859)
  306. 41. [func] jelte
  307. Module descriptions in spec files. (Trac #90, svn r1856)
  308. 40. [build] jreed
  309. Report detected features and configure settings at end of
  310. configure output. (svn r1836)
  311. 39. [func]* each
  312. Renamed libauth to libdatasrc.
  313. 38. [bug] zhanglikun
  314. Send command 'shutdown' to Xfrin and Xfrout when boss receive SIGINT.
  315. Remove unused socket file when Xfrout process exits. Make sure Xfrout
  316. exit by itself when it receives SIGINT, instead of being killed by the

  430. LEGEND

  432. unless it's deemed to be impossible or very hard to keep
  433. compatibility to fix the bug.
  434. [build] compilation and installation infrastructure change.
  435. [doc] update to documentation. This shouldn't change run time behavior.
  436. [func] new feature. In some cases this may be a backward incompatible
  437. change, which would require a bump of major version.
  438. [security] security hole fix. This is no different than a general bug fix
  439. except that it will be handled as confidential and will cause
  440. security patch releases.
  441. *: Backward incompatible or operational change.
